I liked the awkwardness of the romance in the beginning, and following those two was a joy. The plot was swift and had me hanging on the edge of my seat mainly because I was anxious to find out what Lady Eve was planning. A plot for revenge weighs heavy on his mind, leaving no room for romance. Oftentimes I had to reread the dialogue a couple times to remember what they were talking about because there was so much happening in between. A sweet and enjoyable read, Winning Miss Wakefield was a lovely historical romance. He put on a formidable mask of a callous rake, but he was really very sweet and felt everything deeply.
